The Life of David

It's been an exciting start to LT this year. Saturday evening we had a cook-out once everyone checked in. I was very excited that I learned everyone's name the first night. I just kept walking around repeating everyone's names :-). We spent most of Sunday going through orientation for both the LT program and our jobs. Most of the students are working at a Holiday Inn on 39th street, they just did a $19 million renovation so they had a lot to talk about. I will be working at the Holiday Inn on 21st street, along with 2 other students from Ball State. It's the same restaurant I worked at last year, but this time I get to work night shift! I start working on Wednesday, so I have spent most of yesterday and today hanging out around the condos since almost everyone else started work on Monday.

God certaintly didn't waste any time explaining to me what He wanted to teach me this year. As most of you know I was really excited for the chance to work at a really nice restaurant this summer. I came down early for an interview, and had planned meetings with the restaurant and HR manager this week. Ever since I got to LT I have had this uneasy feeling about what my reasoning for coming here this summer was. I felt like my main goal for coming this summer was to get a great job, and secondly to go through the LT program and grow in my relationship with God. So, after much prayer and hesitation I have decided to not pursue a job with Catch 31 anymore, which was probably the hardest/scariest thing I have had to do in a long time. I've learned that I like to take control of everything, especially my jobs and finances. So, I'm going to spend this summer focusing on my relationship with God, not how much money I can make at my job this summer. This is really scary for me, but at the same time I am really excited to see how God will use this summer to mold me.

This summer our focus is "The Life of David" and becoming men and women after God's own heart. I am excited to take this step of faith towards becoming a women after God's own heart. We are spending the summer reading through 1 & 2 Samuel, as well as all of the Psalms and a book titled "The Life of David." We are also going to memorize 4 Psalms this summer, starting with Psalm 27.
I can't wait to see what this summer holds!

Love,
Beka
